Stop And Take A Deep Breath

The week is over and you are reflecting on the events trying to make plans for the next seven days.

Your life may seem so routine. We arise and begin our individual rituals to get the day started. Never knowing if the end of the day will bring complete happiness and contentment or anxiety and frustration. We may create our own stress trying to get it all perfect.

Many of us are very regimented in how we conduct our daily lives. Others just let things flow and allow the day to create itself. Neither is better than the other if it works for you.

The days of our lives have too much unpredictability to function as a machine that never breaks down.

I suspect that we all experience a similar amount of unpredictability each minute of the day.

I know that I approach each day as if it is going to be the most organized, smooth, efficient, rewarding day of my life. Does it work out? Rarely do I get it just right. However, I would rather keep trying and feel the energy created by optimism instead of the mental fatigue associated with negativity.

The expectations others place upon us are as numerous and different as there are personalities. We can not please everyone all the time and actually most of the time. I think we have to learn to be accepting of opinions and respect others for what they may or may not contribute to our life.

At the end of the day we may find ourselves frustrated with events that didn’t turn out as we expected. That deal gone bad, unwarranted criticism, the phone call that didn’t come and other disappointments life brings.

I think we should all try to remember, when the day comes to a close, that little touch, gentle kiss, unprovoked hello, or simple thank you, may have been the best part of your day. It may have come from a complete stranger, someone lying quietly next to you, or someone with much bigger problems than you are carrying around.

Take a deep breath……………be thankful for the small things.
